The New Zealand Institute of Medical Laboratory Science (NZIMLS) are pleased to present their Annual Scientific Meeting, being held from 27 - 29 August 2025 at the Distinction Hotel, Hamilton.

The Distinction Hotel will host this two-and-a-half-day meeting which includes an industry exhibition, keynote speakers and networking functions such as the gala dinner. The ASM programme will be exciting, innovative and informative put together by an organising committee of people working in the industry with the objective that presentations delivered will be relevant and valuable for all laboratory staff, ranging from laboratory assistants, core laboratory scientists to specialised senior scientists and laboratory managers.

The theme for the 2025 ASM is Tinana Rongoaa - Interweaving Science & People. Tinana being one of the four pillars of health - our body and physical health. Waikato has the densest population of Māori in NZ and this theme honours their connection to this place, and how connection to people and our heritage is important to the general health of all humans. It also honours the cultural diversity within laboratory sciences, how interconnected we are. Our individual disciplines all connect back through to our patients, and this completes the circle.

We often spend a lot of time looking forward, so it is important to step back and think about our purpose and where we are at now. It is our patients, our colleagues and people who complete the bigger picture. The logo represents a swatch of woven harakeke, with a blue band representing the Waikato awa (river). The woven aspect is a visual metaphor for our disciplines overlapping and working together to provide patient care.
